My thoughts on acupuncture...

I just read an article on acupuncture treatment for migranes. I thought I would share my thoughts on it. Personally, I am terrified of needles. I think the only time I would willingly take a shot would be in a life or death situation. Yes, I know this sounds extreme, but there's just something about shots that makes me cringe. Anyway, they did a study on the benefits. They had a group that received acupuncture, a group that received fake acupuncture (not in the right spots to help a migrane), & a group on a waiting list for acupuncture. Why a waiting list, I do not know. Basically the result of the study showed that there was benefit from acupuncture as well as the placebo. They believe it is because of the "physiological effect from needles." I interpreted this as the pain from the needles blocks out the pain from the migrane. Pain either way = lose/lose situation? Any thoughts? I know, I'm crazy...

All I know is that pain in another area helps the brain to focus on the new area rather than the migraine. It actually works sometimes on me...that's why I bite my tongue or pinch myself. Now I sound crazy too...right? Anyway I still wouldn't do acupuncture...why needles when I can just pinch myself? :)
