How time flies

Two years ago today, at 12:21 pm, a small, beautiful little miracle girl came into the world. Little did we know how much life would change, or how amazing that change would be. Little miss Madelyn is such a joy. She is an amazing, smart, beautiful child who we could not imagine life without. Here are some things about my little love:

-she can tell you her full name & how old she is
-she can count to 15
-she know almost all her colors
-she can sing her ABCs, as well as Jesus Loves Me, Wheels on the bus, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, & The Itsy Bitsy Spider
-she loves to dance
-she is 110% girly girl
-her favorite color is pink
-her favorite food is bananas
-she will eat almost anything
-she is the only child I know who will not eat French fries (unless they are from Backyard Burger)
-she is finally at the 50th percentile for weight (yay for being out of the 10s!)
-she is a tall little thing!
-she has some wild hair!
-her favorite thing to do is go outside & swing
-she is also obsessed with bubbles
-she is the gentle, lovey, mommy type who LOVES babies
-she gets super silly when she's tired or has anything with sugar
-she loves animals
-she is very sensitive & empathetic
-if she is being clingy, she will hang on to you for dear life, so much that you don't even have to hold her

There is so much I could tell you about my love. She is getting so big so fast. She has her days, but for the most part, she is funny & sweet. I love you, Madelyn Jewel - happy birthday!

Par-tay!

Well, my little love will be 2 in a few days. Since next weekend will be a bit busy, we celebrated her birthday yesterday. We had her party at Jump Zone in Pelham this year. I didn't really want to do it at the house again, and since jumping and bouncing are her favorites, we chose that. It was soooo much fun (especially since parents get to play too)! She really enjoyed it more that either of us could have ever imagined. She was so tired when we got home that she napped until we woke her up at 4:30. Here are some pics from her fun day!
Jumping with Peeps.

You can't tell, but she's actually jumping in this picture. It was seriously all about the jumping!

Let's jump!

Playing with one of her buddies.

About to go down the huge slide...

After going down the huge slide for the 2nd time, this time she chose to go with Daddy.

I was so proud she could blow out her candle! She's been practicing with her toy cake she got for her birthday last year.

Yummy cake!

Me & my sweet lovey

Enjoying her car from Memaw!

The past couple of weeks around here have been a little nuts. Hopefully things will calm down this week. Thursday we will celebrate my little love's birthday - I can't believe she's almost 2!

More firsts

Every day, my baby inches futher & further away from being a baby. She's able to dress & undress herself, wants to be independent with almost everything, and this weekend has been no exception. This weekend we decided to venture out for Madelyn's first hair cut! We decided to take her to where David had his first hair cut. Although she was a little hesitant at first...

...she quickly warmed up to the idea. She was very good & still, didn't cry, and we all survived!

It wasn't so bad afterall =)

We didn't want to get it cut a lot, so we got her to just trim the ends. It was looking pretty rough. Hopefully now it will grow more evenly.

She even got a certificate!

Afterwards, we let her pick anything out from Target that she wanted. This was a promise we made to her earlier in the week when she watched David get his hair cut (that observation was high anxiety for her). We both already knew what she would pick. How I love the simplicity of my child. Instead of picking the biggest, loudest toy she could find, after looking through each aisle, she chose a big, purple ball (you know, the $2 ones in the bins that no one can ever figure out how to get them out of?). Such a sweet girl.
Here was our other first for the weekend. Moving MJ to the big girl bed. This was daddy's idea...I wasn't quite ready for this step. Either way, it's done now.

Afterwards, she had to play in her big girl bed for a minute.

Actually going to bed was another story. Typically she just lays down & it's done. Tonight, she really cried. She didn't get out, just sat up in bed crying for mommy. I gave her a few minutes, but when it was clear she wasn't going to sleep, went back in to talk with her & love on her for a minute. And of course as I began to lay her back down, she wanted daddy. Yes, I know we were played, but she actually said she was scared, which has never happened. After about 10 minutes, she laid back down, and we didn't hear another sound out of her. I checked on her a while later, and she had rolled over & was cuddled with lamby. So far, so good. And now, mommy is ready for bed...it's been a busy weekend.
