Oh the things to do

So I've been in a major cleaning mood this past week. My road block? David! He won't let me do anything! I did finally get him to let me do a few things. Since our house is twice as big, it takes nearly twice as long to clean! I don't want him to have to do everything. Today will be a bit of a busy day. We still have several goals, which include steam cleaning, going to Lowe's, getting my hair cut, & Sam's. At least I feel like doing something this weekend. With being sick last weekend and being in pain as well, I wanted to do things but couldn't. I am excited about the shower next weekend! I really hate being center of attention though. I'm going to get to (hopefully) see some people I haven't seen in a while. And maybe I'll feel better once we get some more of the things we need. A couple of weeks ago, I went through the registry & figured out stuff that we really really have to get (through shower or not), and there were about 15 things on it. We've already been given some things or found at yard sales & consignment shops, like a swing (which for me was a necessity), bouncer, pack-n-play, high chair, and lots of clothes. We have a lot of stuff set up already...figured we might as well get used to it being around! I go back to the dr. Tuesday, and I pray that she has flipped! She's been super rolly-poly the past couple of days, so hopefully she rolled right around. It's hard to believe that she'll be here in just a few weeks! Yesterday was Casper's yearly vet appointment...fun fun. He actually did a lot better than I expected, and a lot better than last year. He growled & hissed & slapped some, but he did pretty well. I mean seriously, last time it was so bad that he pooed in his carrier on the way home because he was mad, and then broke out of it. Thankfully we live close to the vet....like I said, this time was pretty uneventful! Daisy would have gladly changed places - she loves the vet!

And counting...

Who knew I would look forward to maternity leave so much!! I guess it's for more than one reason - not only to meet our sweet baby, but a break from work. It's been a busy week already, trying to get stuff planned and ready and meetings taken care of. It's just nuts! I've been doing a lot better. I'm still a little sick, but she hasn't been on my sciatic nerve as much the past couple of days. I can't wait until we get everything together around here. I also can't wait for my appointment next Tuesday. If you know me, you know I'm not wild about surprises, and I like to have a plan, so hopefully then I'll have some semblance of a plan. Until then, I guess it will be business as usual!

Prayer requests

So I have 2 prayer requests for the weekend. First, with the church we've been helping start - the pastor's wife's mother was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer that has metastesized. They know they are going to have to remove 1 of her kidneys and do chemo, but they aren't sure what else yet. They have gone through a lot these past 6 months, so please be thinking of them and their family (they live in Florida). Secondly, for me. I am apparently coming down with something again. I started feeling bad Thursday night. I'm not sure what it is, but it seems to be a combo of a stomach bug and bronchitis, and I think the coughing has made the sciatica worse. We have a lot of obligations this weekend, so hopefully I'll make it through!!

Just not our day!

This has just not been our day baby-wise! I had another appointment today, and while all seems to be well, an impromptu ultrasound showed that she's turned back around! So, now she's breech...not cool. I go back in another 2 weeks (I'll be 36 then)...they said if she's still breech then they'll either schedule a c-section the week before my due date or try to turn her externally, which if that doesn't work then we're back to a c-section. While a scheduled c-section would make some of my family happy (mainly, those out of town like my grandmother and my dad since he'll be going back to NY next week), I would really prefer to not have one. I know everything will work out how it's supposed to, and now we just have to wait & see...not my strong-point! My sciatic nerve is better. It hasn't bothered me as much today, or at least it didn't this morning. This afternoon it hurt a little more because of running around like crazy. My blood pressure & everything was good thankfully. They actually said she was starting to measure a little big. He estimates that she'll be between 7.5 & 8 pounds. Yuck!! But considering I was almost 8 & David was over 9, I kind of expected that. In other not so great news...we got an email saying that our crib had been recalled! It's actually just a bracket and they said 10 out of 4 million had cracked, and if it cracked then the matress could fall. Not cool either! So we have to get replacement brackets now. Thankfully it's not yet in use! Hopefully we'll get the brackets before she gets here, otherwise I guess we'll be using the pack-n-play. Otherwise, everything is going well. I'm hoping we can get our pool table set up this weekend. That's the only thing left! I just keep telling myself...it will all come together & don't go nuts yet...

3 things...

...I'm growing to hate about pregnancy!

1. Leg cramps, foot cramps, cramps in parts of your legs that you didn't know you could get them...

2. Heartburn - although I'll have to say, I can tolerate this more than the others!

3. Pinched sciatic nerves. Sometimes it's really hard to walk...or bend over.

Ok, that's all for my rant today. As it was pointed out to me, it could be in as little as 3 weeks! Isn't that nuts?

Update & corection

For those who were wondering - baby shower will be February 8, from 2-4 at Calera United Methodist Church. If you are able to come that would be great, if not, I understand - the weekends are always crazy!

Pictures!

So here are some pictures from Atlanta. They got kinda mixed up when I downloaded them, but oh well.

We actually got a coke from off the line. It had the date and time on there.

We love the coke polar bear!

Isn't he cute!

This was one of the characters from the little pre-show - they were cute too.

It was very foggy while we were there! On the weather there were 6 states under a fog advisory.

This was the view from the 27th floor. It's so foggy that you can't see but there was a building right across the street.

We didn't go to the aquarium this time, but the new coke factory was a lot of fun.

Baby it's cold outside!

Again, one of my favorite holiday songs. Wow, what is up with the weather?? Don't get me wrong, I love the cold, but I know others don't, and the shift from ok to cold is brutal! It's worse when you're having to go in and out at work (thank you Calera), or when the fire alarm goes off because something happened with the pipes today (thank you Montevallo). I am thankful for a long weekend. I haven't been sleeping well lately, only 3-3 1/2 hours each night. And while most people don't think my job is demanding, it can wear on you quickly. This weekend will be good though, we are going to get together with some friends who we don't get to see very often, so I'm looking forward to that. And Monday we're off, so I'm definitely looking forward to that! Everything is going well here. Madelyn has been super active again the past couple of days...I'm convinced she goes through phases. She was active at Cirque du Soleil (I think it was because the noise scared her - everytime the loud music started she started flipping & punching), and last night I couldn't go to sleep because of it. That's the first time that's happened. I can tell she's running out of room though - it feels (and looks) so different that just a few weeks ago. It's weird because sometimes I feel her but don't see her, and other times I don't feel her but I see her moving. Strange. Somehow she popped out - literally over night - between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. I noticed before I left work, and several people at work commented. And I know everyone keeps asking me - no, I do not know of any baby shower plans yet. I do still have pictures to post, but blogger is being unkind to me, so I guess I'll have to postpone again. Until next time!

The week of death

Wow, I for one can say I am glad that last week is over! There were many people who I knew or who were related to people I know who passed away last week, including my cousin’s aunt, one of our janitors at Montevallo, and the counselor at Calera’s dad, among about 4 others. So, we’re on to a new week…thankfully. I didn’t feel great this weekend, so we didn’t do much. My doctor’s appointment Thursday went well. I’m measuring just how I should be. I am so thankful that there have been no problems so far, and I pray that I will continue to not have any. Although I did have a dream last night that I had to have a scheduled c-section (yuck!) because something was wrong (I don’t remember what, but I was watching a show the other day debating that. I’ve started getting a little worried about baby stuff, mainly that we won’t get a lot of the things we need. They told me this morning that someone wanted to do a small shower for me at Calera, so we’ll see. Today has been a bit disastrous, so honestly I’m ready for this week to be over too! David was off today, so I of course didn’t want to work. They had to replace the carpet padding in our bedroom – somehow it shrunk and there was a huge gap (about 5-6 inches) in the floor by my side of the bed, which I tripped on a couple of times. I am thankful that it was only the pad though – it could have been something much worse, like the foundation. I do still have pictures to post from Atlanta, but I can’t right now. I didn’t have time to do it yesterday after church, and I don’t have the air card at home – my dad needed it for work because the cable company was burying a line and cut their phone line. They haven’t had a phone since last Monday. It was supposed to be fixed Saturday and wasn’t, and supposed to be fixed by today and still isn’t. So hopefully that will be fixed soon and I can post some pics!!

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had wonderful holidays and a great new year! We were in Atlanta this past weekend for Cirque du Soleil's KOOZA. It was great! There were a few "close calls" though, and it almost made my nerves shot! The first thing that happened was on the tight rope. The guy jumped over another guy and lost his balance. He caught on to the rope & pulled himself up, but even if he hadn't, he was netted so it wouldn't have been so bad. But the next 2 were what got me! They had this big stick looking thing with a wheel on either end. There was 1 guy in each wheel and the did tricks inside and on the outside. The first time the guy lost it was inside the wheel. Since he was inside, it only threw him against the back, but he almost fell out anyway. The 2nd time the guy was on top of the wheel (not sure if it was the same one or not...with the costumes it was hard to tell), get this - jumping rope! Well, the rope got caught on his foot and tripped him and he almost fell off, which would have been really bad because he wasn't netted and it was really high. Other than that, it was a really great show - very funny. While there, we also went to the new Coke factory, which was in walking distance from the Hilton. And, of course, we made it to IKEA! We got a few things, including high bar stools for our counter - yay! There was a lot more I wanted to get, but we held back. The hotel was nice - we were on the 27th floor! We had continental breakfast for free (others didn't unless you were on the executive level), special keys that could get us places other couldn't go, free drinks & treats, and hors d'oeuvres each night. Only one bad thing happened, and thankfully it wasn't hospital-worthy - I had another kidney stone! I think I had another one at the earlier last week, but I'm not sure. I hadn't had any problems since last October, but they say that when you're pregnant they're more prevalent because of the extra calcium intake. All I can say is that I'm thankful that it was nothing like before and my kidney wasn't blocked! Today was back to school and I'm tired, so that's all for now!
