The Barbie Syndrome
I actually heard this phrase today, believe it or not. There is a teacher at Calera who just looks (and sort of acts) like a barbie. My program specialist made that comment & I just thought it was funny. Today was just a funny day, other than my meetings. I am so tired of meetings! Anyway, right now I am absolutely thrilled. On Sunday, my Uncle Bill & Aunt Gayle & cousins Scott & Rob & his wife Adrian (who is probably one of the most deprived people I have ever met! - she's from Virginia originally & had never been out of the state until she was like 24) are all coming down to visit. I haven't seen my aunt & uncle in a year & a half, I haven't seen Scott in almost 7 years, and the last time I saw Rob & Adrian was when he almost died in the hospital 4 years ago. So needless to say, I cannot wait to see them! That's pretty much all that's going on here!

VERY IMPORTANT!!
I received information last week that I just wanted to pass along. There is yet another problem with Wal-mart. There have been numerous cases of people who bought flip-flops there having a reaction to wearing them. They determined that the problem is, since most of Wal-mart's brand products come from China, that lead paint is still being used. I have seen pictures of this, and it is absolutely horrible! So, please, if you are thinking about it, make sure they aren't made in China just to be safe!
Otherwise, there isn't much news. We are off of work on Monday, so I'm excited. Work has been a little hectic lately to say the least. I have a lot of meetings right now through May. Our kids were crazy on Wednesday with all of the snow! We had about 2 inches build up on the stairs & walkways outside. Anyway, I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day. We went to The Melting Pot, which was very special & super fun. We had never been before. Until later!

Struggles
The past couple of weeks have been a real struggle for me. There's been bad news, stress at work, and just general exhaustion. Among other things, my uncle Wayne is not doing well. They found out his heart is only functioning at 30%, and if it's not better soon, they're going to have to put in a defibrilator. Also, a substitute teacher at Calera passed away last week suddenly from MRSA. I had one of her kids in ECLIPSE. She also had a 2nd grader. What makes the situation worse is the dad died 2 years ago from cancer. So that family has really had a rough time. There have been some other things going on too. I'm trying to not get sick. Everyone at Calera is sick. Six teachers have been out with the flu, and 140 kids were out on Monday alone with something or another. So hopefully I won't get it!! Anyway, that's all that's been going on really. I'm at church right now because an agent is showing the house tonight. I'm just ready for bed!
