Weekend pictures

Madelyn has really started to favor this little pink bee that she was given in the hospital. I'm going to have to find another one just in case we ever lose it!

This weekend was busy running around as usual, trying to get prepared for our upcoming trip, and we also fit in a playdate!

This is friend Laura's baby, Aidan. He's 4 months older than Madelyn. Aren't they cute together!

Aidan tried to sneak a kiss (not really, he just leaned that way as I was taking the picture)!

Madelyn was tired after a busy Saturday. She went to bed late...we're bad parents...I'll explain later.

"I just want to hang out with daddy!"
Another funny bit this morning - Mark, our worship leader was talking as service was beginning, and little miss Madelyn busts out laughing! Goodness that child has a personality...

The week in pictures

What a week! I don't know how other to explain it than through pictures, so here goes!
4 generations, together at last! My family was in town from Saturday until Wednesday.

Madelyn with her great aunt Sharon

We love Sophie too!

Madelyn & Mimi (my grandmother)

the whole family!

Madelyn & Pawpaw (David's grandfather). Thursday morning we went for a visit with him, Linda, & Rachel, and all the great-grandchildren, uninterrupted for the first time!

Pawpaw with Madelyn & Adalynne

Pawpaw with John, Madelyn, Adalynne, Peyton, and Mercy. This picture doesn't show it great, but in John's hand is a flyer for a baby sale! How funny...

And now for some miscellaneous pictures -

We are starting to tolerate tummy time a little more now (and nap time too...maybe I shouldn't jinx that!).

We're still crawling around in circles though...but she is now pulling herself up to sitting from lying if she uses you as a little support, and she sat up for just a second on her own yesterday morning. Another development - her love for standing up! She's doing so great with that!

All cute in my little jeans, chilling in my swing!

Aren't these pretty! There is a jewelry store going out of business in Irondale, and my parents went out there & brought this back for me! Thank you!!

My pretty flowers. This was part of what David set up for our anniversary at the Melting Pot.
Needless to say, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit with my family! We look forward to seeing then 4th of July in Atlanta, and letting Madelyn meet some more of her family! I suppose that's all for now...not much news & too much to do while my little one sleeps!

Madelyn Jewel at 3 months

It's hard to believe our sweet girl is 3 months already! Here are some things about her...

- she is very long! we may have to move to 6 month sleepers so she can stretch her legs

- she weighs 11 pounds

- she definitely has her own personality, complete with funny faces!

- she sleeps on average 10 hours at night

- she will go to sleep on her own at night if you lay her in her bed, usually within 10 minutes if her crib soother is on, even if she is wide awake

- she still doesn't like to nap during the day

- her favorite toys are a rattle that rolls (hard to explain) and a little pink bug that plays music

- she still fits into almost all her newborn stuff, and she can wear 0-3 month stuff too, but not 3-6 (not even close)

- she will take a paci sometimes, but she still doesn't really care for it, she would rather have her hands

- if she does want her paci & it falls out, she'll put it back in her mouth

- she is preteething definitely now

- she is very happy, and will only cry if she's hungry or tired or really dirty

- she loves people, but looks for mommy & daddy first before she's ok with them

- she is very happy in the morning (as long as you don't wake her up) & greets you with big smiles & little laughs

- she loves her swing & her bouncer...she likes to sleep in the swing too

- lights & ceiling fans are the most interesting things ever

- she has hit her arm once & leg once on her changing table while she's flailing about (happily) & then she looks at me & screams as if to say "fix it!"

- doesn't care too much for bath time (I think she gets cold because she likes the shower part)

- she still prefers nursing over a bottle & thinks she has to nurse as soon as I get home, even if she just ate

- she will eat as much and as long as you let her, and pitches a little fit (beginning with a high pitched "you're killing me!" scream) when you stop, but is fine again if you start feeding her again. David learned this first hand the other day, and gave her 6-7 ounces (which she is so not ready for), which she proceeded to throw half of up on him before he was supposed to go back to work.

- can pull herself upright from a 20 degree angle, but usually falls forward in a few seconds (in her carseat she pulls herself into a ball & gets mad that she cant get out)

- she will arch her back & stretch & lock her legs if she doesn't want to get in her carseat, swing, etc.

- she loves to sit up & stand up & she does really well with it!

Madelyn Jewel at 3 months

And mommy at 3 months!

TGIF

I am so glad it's Friday! School is officially over, David is finished with his 2 week certification course, and some of my family is coming in town tomorrow. None of my family except my parents have seen Madelyn yet, so we are very excited. My grandmother, aunt, and cousin will be here until Wednesday. Madelyn is doing great - approaching 3 months! David wanted to do 3 month pics, so we'll be doing that tomorrow morning. Well, I have work news but no work news. I have a job, but I don't know doing what. I may be at my same schools, or I may be traveling doing preschool. I should know sometime in the next few weeks maybe. Not much else to post...more later!

New pics

Today is our 6th anniversary - hard to believe! We celebrated yesterday by going to the Melting Pot, one of our favorite "time" places. I call it a time place because, although dinner is involved (and is definitely yummy), it is a super fun experience that takes a good bit of time and leaves a lot of good memories. This is what David got me for our anniversary -

I have wanted an anniversary band for probably 3 years, and David surprised me with it yesterday!

These are some of the latest pictures that I've taken of Madelyn.

She was making lots of funny faces. Her latest thing is sucking in her top lip.

Getting ready for church.

Her latest discoveries are her hands and feet. Last Sunday she discovered her feet & that they can move. This morning her hands were ultra fascinating to her!! We have such a funny baby...

On a side note...we are now addicted to The Locator. It comes on WE. It's kind of funny because we saw someone yesterday who we hadn't seen since before we were married (long story). We debated on saying something to her because she didn't see us, but decided against it. Blogger finally let my pictures go!

My first Mother's Day.

This isn't the best picture of her pouty face, but you get the idea.

She likes to imitate sticking her tongue out.

It's a lei lion!

She has praying hands!

Daddy nap times are good...this is the 1st little dress my mom made Madelyn.

This is her latest creation.

Drooly baby

Hm...so Madelyn started drooling a lot on Friday. Surely she's not teething yet...still haven't figured out what's going on there. She's doing great. Hard to believe that she'll be 11 weeks old on Tuesday! She still hates tummy time, and it makes her so mad that she'll scoot around in a circle trying to figure out how to get out of it. She's also trying so hard to sit up. She can is she starts out at a slight angle, but she can't stay upright for long. A lot of times she winds up scrunched in a ball. I've had a wonderful 1st Mother's day. David made a yummy breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes, then we went to church, out to lunch, and home for a nap. I am counting down my time left of work. This week is my last week to see kids, and the next week will be busy packing stuff up, meetings, and finishing up paperwork. Still no word about next year. Yesterday we went running around as usual. We did finally make it to look at a Venza...I liked it (unfortunately). I don't think I need a new car, but David does, so we could have something with some cargo room. He told me that could be my Mother's Day present.

I'm working on getting new pictures posted. I've tried for the past hour & it keeps messing up. I'll leave you with an actual conversation that I had with one of my pre-ks on Friday. She's 4 by the way.

Her: My mommy had a baby in her tummy.

Me: She does? Is it a baby boy or a baby girl?

Her: A baby boy. Do you know what babies eat?

Me: What?

Her: They eat boo-uhs.

Me: They eat what?

Her: Boo-ehs.

Me: What?

Her: Boo-buhs!!

Me: Oh...

Maybe it didn't take you as long as me to figure out that she was trying to tell me that babies eat boobies. I guess that was my mistake for asking!!

Survival mode

Well, Madelyn & I have survived my 1st week back at work. It’s been fine I guess, just a bit chaotic trying to get caught up on everything & tie up loose ends. My mom kept her Monday and today, and my dad kept her the rest of the week (now he’s in New York again). Apparently she will nap during the day for my dad but not my mom. I am so glad that there are only 2 weeks left of school. I still have no clue about plans for next year. That is something I have really struggled with. Maybe I’ll find out soon what’s going on. Not much else is new…just trying to adjust to working and spending time with Madelyn. Seriously if it wasn’t true before that there are not enough hours in the day to get everything done, it is definitely true now. Half of the things we plan never get done. Remember the whole thing about going to look at a car a couple of weeks ago?? Still hasn’t happened. I have no lunch today because there wasn’t enough time to go to Publix last night (and David was sick, so he didn’t really feel like it). My dad has cooked for us every night this week, which I guess is good since we have hardly any food. And my poor sweet baby, who is not a morning baby anyway, cannot get adjusted to getting up in the mornings. This morning I woke her up just in time to feed her and leave. And the worst part? Apparently she is just now realizing that I’m leaving her – she cried this morning when I left. Talk about a broken heart…
