Family pics

We decided to continue the tradition and do our 2 week pics like we did with Madelyn. We really wanted one of the boys that was like our favorite picture of Madelyn. Here is the one of her -

Here is Dalton -

And here is Braden -

Braden, AKA "Bug" or "Fuzzy Wuzzy"

1 week

It's hard to believe that the boys are already a week old. Here are some more of their pics.

On our way home!!

He looks so tiny on David.

Two little bitties <3

Our little glow worms. They had to do some phototherapy for jaundice. Poor babies. Thankfully now they're doing great and don't have to be on the lights anymore.

Surprise!

So I've been trying to post this for several days now, but since the hospital WIFI wouldn't let me upload pics for some reason, and things have been super busy since we got home, here it is now. First, I'll share the story. Friday as I went in for a routine OB visit, a big suprise met us! Everything was going normally, and the doctor I was seeing (who was supposed to deliver the twins) asked if I wanted him to check to see if I was dilated even though I had the scheduled c-section date. I said sure, since it had been about 2 1/2 weeks and I was curious since the contractions I'd had weren't as often (although more intense) than the past few weeks. As we were discussing my concerns that we didn't do an ultrasound that day as the tech had recommended to check growth on baby b (now known as Dalton), he stops mid sentence. Note - it's never good when the first words out of your doctor's mouth are "Oh my". He then proceeded to tell me that I was almost 7 cm dilated & 90% effaced, and that it looked like we would probably be having babies that day. After my moment of shock, I said ok and sent David a quick text to let him know what was going on while he went to talk to the doctor on call. A couple of minutes later, he came in and confirmed that we would in fact be delivering the babies that day, ran through the legal stuff they have to, and had me get ready to go down to labor & delivery. I asked if I had a minute to go home, but he told me no. So around 11:00, they sent me down, and David was there a few minutes later. They scheduled the c-section for 2:00. Braden Rhys was born at 2:05, weighing 4 lb 14 oz, and 18 1/4", and Dalton Emery was born at 2:06, weighing 4 lb 14 oz, and 18". Here are some pics that I was finally able to upload. More will come when Blogger decides to be nice again.

And those are our sweet baby loves! They are doing great considering they were born at 15 weeks 2 days. No NICU time, came home with us, and just a couple of minor things that are working themselves out (feeding, temperature stabilization, jaundice). They did phototherapy at home for less than 48 hours, and they'll go back for another check on Saturday, but they're doing so great! Although I already knew how lucky we were to avoid lung issues and everything else we were prepared for, it really hit home when we took them to the doctor on Tuesday. There was a family who I overheard talking, who also had twin boys. As we were leaving, the mom & I started talking, and my heart broke listening to her talk about her boys. One had just been released from NICU at 11 weeks, and the other was still there. I cannot imagine how difficult that must be, nor do I want to, even though I've had friends in a smilar situation. We are so incredibly blessed.
