Warning!! Long post ahead...

Lots to post on today...I'll skip around a bit, but I guess I'll start with - the bunny! *insert VeggieTales song here* Friday David was cutting grass, came inside & asked me if I had anything to catch mice with. Now, I have never even seen a mouse in our neighborhood, so I was a bit freaked out. He eventually talked me into coming out there to see. After peeking in the hole, I said, "I think those are rabbits!" After further inspection, we determined I was correct. And since a rabbit had been hit across the street a few days before, we called the Wildlife Center to get some advice. After about 20 phone calls and a bunny inspection, it was determined that they were ok and will eventually venture on their own. Scary thought considering we live in neighborhood. We've considered moving them to the back yard or transplanting them to my parents woods, which they said was ok. Here are some pics of our cute 3 little bunnies!

Huddled in the nest.

They have decided we are not all that bad after all. I fear I am becoming quite attached.

On the Saturday we had Madelyn's pictures made (the 20th), we also took her for her 1st dentist appointment. She actually really liked the dentist. She got a pretty ball and made her handprint for the ceiling tiles, and her picture made. They said she was the best 1 year old they had ever had! She wasn't afraid of the cleaning tool; however, she was NOT fond of the fluoride treatment.
Madelyn's birthday was on Wednesday, but we celebrated with friends and family on Saturday. She had a party for a princess!

And lots of food!

My birthday princess

"What am I supposed to do with that mommy?"

She's an icing girl. She ate a little cake, but really could have cared less. She didn't care for the feeling of the icing on her hands.
The aftermath.

Sweet girly with Aunt Valerie.

Got to play with her friend Aidan...

...and Felicity and Ariana!

Opening fun gifts....

...and cards...

Spending some time with Aunt Millie.
On her birthday, we took her to the zoo, and ate dinner afterwards. She had lots of favorite animals!

The turtle was one of her favorites, second possibly to the monkey (we'll get there shortly).

The birds were fascinated by her.

This one actually followed her around.

It was fun to watch the sea lions!!

And of course, we love the birds.

The kangaroos & wallabes were new since I had been last (which I have to admit has been several years).

The rhinos were out, but not the hippos!

The gorilla likes to suck his fingers - how cute! It's like a really big baby.

This is called a delirious Madelyn who is too excited to sleep!

The cute monkeys - when we first walked around the corner, one was hanging on the ledge staring at me! They were very interactive!

One was even brave enough to get near Madelyn - she thought it was fabulous!

The orangutan.

Look! A peacock! Wonder if he used to live in Montevallo...

The flamingos looked like they wanted to eat me. Kinda scary.

So did the lions...

...and the tigers. Really scary. I think it was too close to dinner time. By the way, this is what a white tiger looks like before he pounces on you. I'll try to post that video later.

Madelyn: "Look mama, kitty!"
Cat: "If I look at it, it will go away. I can't look, I can't look. Maybe it will forget I'm here."

The meerkats were all huddled up, sleeping.

We think this cat was related to Casper. He looks so happy, doesn't he!

I love the giraffe in the back, bending his neck backwards.

And of course, the llamas are a favorite! There was a sheep on here too, but I guess it got deleted. Oh well, I've totured you long enough. The world begins again tomorrow!!

Madelyn Jewel, 1 year

2/24/09

It's hard to believe that my sweet girl is 1 year old. Here are some of the funny things about her:

- She loves the cat, but he's terrified of her.

- She also loves her puppy & plays with her by throwing her toys.

- She has gotten very good and fast at walking, but sometimes she deems crawling more efficient.

- She absolutely loves my dad!

- Her favorite foods right now are chicken, lima beans, and bananas.

- Some days she will eat anything...others, she won't eat even her favorite foods...weird.

- She has 8 teeth.

- Her hair is getting quite long, and her eyes are still the most beautiful blue.

- She can say about 30-35 words.

- She loves to listen to music, play music, and DANCE!

- She really shows a preference to things pink - She is 110% girl!

- She is very curious & adventurous, and she loves to climb.

- She's sneaky, and she gets a look that says, "I'm not doing anything!"

- She is very shy, but makes friends quickly (although they are usually older friends).

- I have 2 favorite faces - the "cute face" which she does when you touch both of her cheeks, and the "teeth face" which she will do after you brush her teeth to show you they're clean.

- She shakes her head no, if she doesn't want something, if you tell her no...it's hilarious! Her nod for yes is more like a whole body shake...too cute.

- She survived her 1st dentist appointment...and actually liked it I think (more later on that).

- She sleeps 11-12 hours/night, and takes 2 naps.

- She weighs 16 lbs, 10 oz, and is 29.5" long. Still long and skinny...so much for turning her around at 1 year.

- When she is really tired, she has the cutest laugh.

- Her ball pit is one of her favorite toys.

- She still loves to play with remotes, phones, and pretty much anything else electronic that she shouldn't play with. Including the Wii remote, which she is fascinated with. And she can do things on the computer that neither David nor I know how to fix.

- She is just as sweet and precious as the day she was born, and it doesn't seem like she has been in our lives for a whole year.

I love you, my bijou monkey Madelyn Jewel. Happy birthday!

Lots to catch up on

After some fights with Blogger, here are some new pics! Where to begin...with the circus I suppose! I know I'm way behind. Oh well. At the end of January, we went to the circus. Madelyn was in wonderment. She, of course, fell asleep during it (considering it started 30 minutes after she's normally asleep), but she seemed to enjoyed it nonetheless.

Those dudes are really tall.

Madelyn wasn't quite sure what to think about the clowns, but she loved the acrobats!

Moving right along! Madelyn loves helping you do anything. Recently we got a DVR, and she decided to help daddy install it. She actually climbed in his lap, stood up, and took over.

Madelyn Jewel LOVES cottage cheese! I gave her what little was left in the container one night, and she wanted it so bad, so I gave it to her. Then she proceeded to pretend to scoop it out on her dinner (which she wasn't in the mood for that night). Her food moods have been particularly moody lately. One day she loves something and the next day she hates it...3 days later she loves it again! Thus the tastebuds of a baby.
Cutie baby in her duckie robe.

She has such wild hair after a bath!

This was the reason she needed a bath. Messy messy girl!!

It has snowed so much this year too! Madelyn's first snow occured when she was only 5 days old, so now she's actually getting to enjoy it some.

"Mommy, it's cold out here."

"Daddy, you're crazy to put that stuff in your mouth."

I personally have loved the snow. I was suprised at how much we got. I got a long weekend since they let us out early because of the snow. I immediately went to get my girly and take her out in it! Then we got even more Sunday night. I didn't take her out then though; she was asleep.

Madelyn was a bit fascinated. She really wanted to walk in it though.

Let see...what else...David & I celebrated Valentine's Day by going out to Olive Garden and then College Night! It was the 1st time we've gone in 2 years. It was a lot of fun! Especially getting to see some people we haven't seen in a while. Also, Madelyn is officially walking alone as of 2/7. More than the accidental 1-2 steps. Sometimes she still prefers to crawl...she still doesn't have very much confidence, and it's still faster. This Saturday we are going to take her 1 year pics, and then she has her 1st dentist appointment. It will be an interesting day! She will turn 1 next Wednesday, and next Saturday is her party! It will be a crazy week for sure! I'll try to be better about posting more...=/
