Home again

Well, we had a great trip. We got back late Tuesday night. It was really nice to have a break. We got to see lots of snow, & build snowmen, & all kinds of fun things. I have pictures to post, but for some reason I'm having trouble getting them on the computer. The rest of my break hasn't felt much like a break at all. I had to unpack, work on a project, & who knows what tomorrow. It's really nice to not be in school though. I only have 2 more weeks of clinic once I get back, so maybe it won't be too bad. Next week will be hectic though. I have a ton of stuff due. Well, I guess that's all for now. I'll post pictures as soon as I figure out what's wrong with the camera/computer.

1 week....

...until spring break!! Yay! I need a break. I think they're trying to kill us. We have been working so hard on seemingly endless projects. Actually, that's what I will be doing tonight (& what I should be doing now). Fun fun. I would rather watch American Idol =) Anyway, we are going to Gatlinburg for a few days for spring break. We are very excited & very thankful that David could get off a few days. He started 6-3 this week. Other than that, not much news. I've been having fun sending my dad monk-e-mails. =) hehehe. Anyway, I found out today that my supervisor requested me for the summer. Usually, they don't let that happen. But she said she wanted me to help her with her doctoral dissertation. She was like, yeah, I'll train you & everything so that you can take over when I'm not there. Then she asked me if that was ok. I was like, um....yeah, that's kinda scary. So it will definitely be an interesting summer.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!

This time last year...

Oh, how well I remember this time last year. It was acceptance letter time. Grad school applications were due March 1st. Last week, the 1st rounds of letters were sent out. I know one of the girls that got in. This week, the 2nd round went out. My friend Laura got in. I was very excited for her. She was very excited too. She was so worried that she wouldn't get in. This week has been a very long week so far. I have had migranes for 3 days in a row. I think they have finally gone away now. Anyway, I am ready for this week to be over. I have school & clinic tomorrow, and Friday I have to retake my aphasia test and then I have class. Tomorrow I find out if I have my Tuesday/Thursday clinic. I love my reading group, but honestly it wouldn't hurt my feelings if we didn't have it. Oh well. If anyone is interested, the monk-e-mail site is www.careerbuilder.com/monk-e-mail

Not much

Well, I don't really have much to post about this week. The weekend was ok. We were pretty busy though. We didn't have Emmy Friday because she was sick. I had my class on Saturday as usual, and Sunday afternoon we went to David's parents for his brother's birthday. We did get satellite on Tuesday, and we got our new cell phones. Mine came Monday and David's came Friday (well, Thursday but I had to pick it up Friday). The SHAA conference went well. I hate sitting there that long though, it gets really boring. I saw something really funny here at school yesterday. There is this thing called monk-e-mail. You can change the monkey's hair, clothes, etc. and type in a message & the monkey talks. It was SO funny. We were sending emails to our professors. I haven't actually been to the link yet, but if I find it I'll let ya know.

Cell phones & satellite

Well, we have gotten some major stuff within the last week. We got new cell phones because our other ones were not cooperating (mine at least - which has rarely been dropped, while David's mutilated one on the other hand works better than mine). We are also getting satellite. It was supposed to be here on the 18th, but it's coming today. Good timing too - my 2nd class & clinic was cancelled today because my supervisor's daughter is sick. Unfortunately, that gives me another 10 million things to do too....Not much has been happening lately. My parents came back on Friday. We decided to go to Thacker's - the new restaurant by the theater in Alabaster. Well, while we were eating dinner, a guy at a table behind us had a heart attack. He was ok - still conscious & all. But, it was interesting trying to explain to a 5 year old (Emmy was with us) why there was a guy laying in the middle of the floor in a restaurant and paramedics are taking him away. Saturday was pretty uneventful. I had my class...other than that, we went to church Sunday, & took a nap when we got home. David had helped set up for my parent's church, so I went home so Emmy could get a bath & go to bed, & I stayed up watching movies we had rented. He got home pretty late, and then we stayed up. David was sick yesterday....he came home from work throwing up (he threw up early Monday morning too). It must have been a 24 hour bug or something, because he was feeling better this morning & went to work.

Yay!

I am glad the week is almost over. My test went well today. I think. There were a couple of things we (all 16 of us) didn't know. So, stressed has been somewhat reduced. I still don't have my grade from last week's test. I figure I'll get it tomorrow so that they can ruin our weekends. We were all a little aggravated today. There is a convention next week that we are supposed to be at (they didn't cancel classes until today). They told us back in January that it was optional and voluntary. Today, when I got to school, there was a note in our boxes telling us that we had to tell them when we were going to be there and that this would replace our class load for next Thursday and Friday. I have to pay $15 to be a member of SHAA (speech & hearing assoc. of AL), if I volunteer to work, I can go free; but if I don't work, I have to pay $60. We were all livid. First of all, I don't belive in paying to work, whether it be $15 or $60. Second, we were told we didn't have to go and now we do. And it's one week in advance. One good part to the day, me & a couple of girls went to lunch today. We needed to get away from the clinic. Oh, and one of my diamonds in my wedding band (the engagement ring, not the band) so now I have to get it fixed. It shouldn't cost anything though, so that's good.
